Jodie's Biography
Starting her career in commercials for Sizzler and Oscar Meyer, Jodie Sweetin quickly found her footing in the Hollywood scene. After a guest appearance on the show, "Valerie" (aka "The Hogan Family) she was approached by Miller and Boyett Productions to star in a family sitcom. Jodie happily accepted the role as Stephanie Tanner on "Full House."
After a highly successful eight seasons with "Full House" Jodie found herself back on the job market. She was able to land guest staring roles on shows such as, "Brotherly Love” and "Party of Five" but opportunties were few and far between. So after graduating high school, Jodie decided it would be best to continue her education.
Chapman University became the home of our beloved star for the next few years. While she remained focused on her studies Jodie did find time to join the Alpha Phi sorority as well as appear in a music video for a local band called "Up Syndrome" and guest star on the show, "Yes Dear.” Jodie graduated from Chapman obtaining a Liberal Arts degree. She later married Shaun Holguin in July 2002.
On the surface, Jodie's life was going quite well, but she had a dark secret she hid even from her husband. With so few opportunities open to her, Jodie's career came to a standstill. Feeling lost and rejected by the industry she grew up with, Jodie found herself spirling out of control. She gave in to the temptations of drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamine (aka crystal meth or ice) and quickly became addicted.
Jodie fought to keep things together, but the addictions clouded her mind. She found herself associating more closely with other addicts rather than the people she loved most. Thankfully, her friends and family did not give up on her. It was with their encouragement Jodie finally overcame her troubles. Checking into a rehab facility most likely in late 2005, Jodie reemerged with a new life, but not without sacrifice. Jodie and Shaun divorced during the turmoil and her career was in worse shape than before.
Shortly after leaving rehab, Jodie went public with the news of her addiction and recovery. She quickly became a spokeswoman for the dangers of drinking and drug use. Jodie began traveling the country to tell her story to other young adults in hopes she could inspire them to make the right choices.
Her career and personal life began to dramatically improve. Jodie found herself with a hosting job on a popular show called, "Pants-Off Dance-Off" and she finished filming a motion picture, "Port City" scheduled for release in 2009. Jodie also remarried; this time to Cody Herpin and had a beautiful daughter, Zoie Laurelmae on April 12, 2008.She has since split with Cody.
Jodie's latest project is a memoir of her life and struggles as a child celebrity and recovering drug addict. Her book, "unSweetined" hits bookselves November 3rd, 2009.
What's next for this inspiring young woman? There are currently talks of a reality show staring her new family. Beyond that, we will have to wait and see. However, one fact is certain. She will have millions of fans following her every step of the way.
