Jodie Sweetin and Barbara Alyn Woods Film "Port City" in Port City
July 22, 2008

A new feature and a new television show are coming to town and both are looking for actors.

Independent film Port City begins filming in the Wilmington area July 30 and will shoot through August, said casting director David Schifter of Hollywood East Casting.

"This has been a lot of fun to cast because there are such stereotypical themes," he said. "You've got gay themes, redneck themes. It's a very funny script."

The comedy is the brainchild of Andrew Brown, a post-production supervisor by trade who has worked on shows such as Deal or No Deal . But Brown has left his day job to direct his creation.

The cast includes One Tree Hill regular Barbara Alyn Woods, as well as Matthew Laurance ( Beverly Hills 90210 ), Matt Lutz ( McBride ), John Wesley Shipp ( Dawson's Creek ) and Jodie Sweetin ( Full House ).

"This is her first feature, her comeback project," Schifter said of Sweetin.

The rest of the cast are locals, including a few actors from locally-filmed Whittaker Bay .

Port City does need a few extras, though. Schifter said he's looking for guys to add realism to a scene in a gay club.

Anyone interested should go to www.HollywoodEastCasting.com and click on the contact page. Include information about how you look and any prior acting experience.

Schifter is also casting for Style Network's Split Ends . He describes it as "like Wife Swap for stylists." The show needs salon owners who are willing to participate, as well as stylists.

"We're looking for drama, back-stabbers, all kinds of personalities," he said.
