Jodie Sweetin Talks Meth and Motherhood
June 9, 2008
Jodie Sweetin, of former adorable middle-child "Full House" fame, is speaking out on being a new mom- and how much her life has changed since her terrible addiction to meth.
Jodie Sweetin (26), who is the mother to 7-week-old daughter Zoie, recently told People, "You look at your baby and think, 'Wow, I did that.' It's really amazing," I'm still like, 'Oh, wow, I'm a mom.' It's the most overwhelming, exciting thing I've ever done."
Baby Zoie's father is Jodie Sweetin's relatively new husband Cody Herpin. The couple has been married for ten months. Herpin is Sweetin's second husband. Sweetin, at 22, was previously married to an LAPD officer by the name of Shaun Hoguin. She was on a break from any acting and was a student in college at the time. It was at this time that she first tried meth, and soon after she was a full-blown addict. Sweetin previously told People, “It's not one of those things where you can say, "Well, on Jan. 21, at this time, I became an addict. The drugs were around, I had friends who used them on and off, through high school and college. Then I tried it and it was one of those things where you try it and you think, Well, that was fun, but this won't be a problem for me.”
Jodie Sweetin managed to keep her addiction a secret from her husband, until a night of partying gone too far landed her in the hospital.
After being treated for her meth addiction, Sweetin and her first husband divorced. At this time, Jodie spent sixth months in sober living. She then met Herpin, a film transportation coordinator. After two months of dating the two decided to get married. At the time, Sweetin told People, "Cody is my best friend. I married my best friend, and I couldn't ask for anything more. He's an unbelievable person." Of the quick pregnancy that followed, Jodie told People, “It was a blessing.”
