Debut Date: Sept. 22, 1987
Seasons: 8
Original Premise: Widower Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) enlists stand-up comic
pal Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier) and aspiring rockstar brother-in-law Jesse
Katsopolis (John Stamos) to help raise his three daughters: D.J. (Candace Cameron),
Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen).
Twin Assets: Full House overcame usniversally awful reviews with family-friendly scripts and the unexpected mage-popularity of the Olsen twins.
Fuller House: In 1991, Jess's new wife, Rebecca (Lori Loughlin), joined the Tanner househld and gave birth to twin boys (Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit) later that year. ALso on hand: D.J.'s ever-present best friend, Kimmy (Andrea Barber).
Memorable Moments: Joey give away Stephanie's teddy bear, prompting a heart-to-heart about her mom's death; D.J. goes on a crash diet to look good in a swimsuit, prompting a heart-toheart about eating disorders and self-respect; the girls' great-grandfather dies, prompting a heart-to-heart about grief and loss.
Finale: The series finale (ABC, May) was actually shot as a season finale, since neither cast nor crew knew the show would be canceled at that point. In the one-hour episode, Michelle enters an equestrian show, falls off a horse, and suffers amnesia. Fear not: Her memory is restored when her family reminisces about the past (via series-highlight clips). Reunion Potential: "I don't think you'll be seeing Full House in another incarnation," says Saget, "unless somebody wants to put on those Brady wigs in 20 years."
On Their Own: Look for Saget on America's Funniest Home Videos. Look for the Olsens to star in a series of their own--ABC guaranteed on to them even before Full House was canceled.
