House Twins Stunned as Show is Axed Plus the tearful last episode
Full House twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are shattered because the show has been canned.
Reveals a source on the set: "The twins were crushed when they heard the show was folding. They've been working on it so long that the rest of the cast are like family to them.
"They've been holding their heads high, but it's been a real blow."
The 8-year-old Olsen twins, who've become household names from their exposure on the ABC series, aren't the only ones grieving at the cancellation.
Full House, which has aired for eight years, recently filmed it's last episode--and there were tears all around. STAR has exclusively learned the details of the last show, which will be aired in May. It features a life-threatening crisis for Michelle, who is played by the Olsen twins.
"The final episode is guaranteed to make the show's fans laugh and cry," says an insider. "The two-parter will even leave viewers sitting at the edge of their seat when Michelle's life is left hanging by a thread. In the first part, Michelle falls off a horse and is rushed to the hospital. The shock of the fall to her head is so bad that she immediately slips into a coma.
"The show ends with Michelle lying in her hospital bed in a coma. Her father, sisters and the whole gang are gathered around with tears streaming down their faces," fans won't know whether she'll live or die until the following week's episode--which is the final one.
The tragic episode not only left the cast in tears as they read their lines, but the show's stars were also fighting back tears off-camera as they said goodbye to their TV family.
"It was a very solemn taping," adds an eyewitness. "The cast is usually very upbeat and cheerful. They're always cracking each other up with practical jokes."
"But it was completely different at this show's taping. In between shots, when the crew rearranged camera angles, the gang couldn't stop hugging each other.
"Eventually, Michelle comes out of the coma and the entire family is at her side when she opens her eyes for the first time," continues the insider. "Michelle says she doesn't know who any of them are. The doctor determines she has amnesia. He then prescribes lots of tender loving care from the whole family--hoping that it will help her snap out of it."
In the end, Michelle does get her memory back. And, in a surprise twist, the show's execs figured out a way to have both twins in the scene together.
"For years, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen shared the role of Michelle," adds the insider. "Incredibly, they've never been seen together on the show. but at the end of the final episode, both are in a scene together. Mary-Kate is in her bed sleeping when all of a sudden she opens her eyes and sees herself (Ashley) standing at the end of her bed.
"Mary-Kate asks who she is--and Ashley explains that she's her memory. They're happy to see each other and then they merge together."
The decision to ax the series came from ABC execs, who decided the show was too expensive.
